Dirtbean's Roadkill Killer Road Ride
Join Dirtbean for their 4th Anniversary CELEBRATION & Marlinton's infamous Roadkill Cookoff and Harvest Festival
KILLER RIDE: We will leave the Dirtbean Shop promptly at 9am proceed north on Rt. 219 up Elk Mountain to the Highland Scenic Hwy, Rt. 250, regroup at the Gauley Mountain Overlook. Continue across the Hwy to the Cranberry Visitor Center, regroup. Descend on Rt. 39 to Millpoint, follow Rt. 39 to Old Buckeye Road. Climb Old Buckeye Road back to Rt. 39 to Marlinton. The ride is approximately 45 miles of hills. King/Queen of the Mountains points/prizes awarded for 3 climbs, Elk Mountain, Black Mountain & Old Buckeye Rd.
* I don't want to be Roadkill Option: For those wanting a shorter option, upon descending to the Williams River/ Tea Creek Campground area you may follow the Williams River Rd to Edray back to Rt. 219 to Marlinton.
RIDE SUPPORT: Dirtbean will provide hydration drink, energy gels and Dirtbean's "oh my God yummy" Super Cookies. A van with tubes and other goodies will be located on the Scenic Hwy. However, due to the long and rural nature of the ride please bring tubes and any items you may require. It can be cool and rainy with unexpected quick changes in weather so please come prepared with proper clothing.
COST: There is no "official charge" for the ride, but a donation of $20/person would be appreciated. Included with your donation is ride support, preride coffee, tea and baked good, 15% discount on post ride lunch, 15% discount on any purchase at Dirtbean in celebration of our 4th Anniversary.
BIKES TOO: If you are in the market for a new bike, check out Giant and Kona bikes. Dirtbean will extend a 15% discount. Due to our limited stock, we will order it for you. Come stay for free at the Bean's Bike & Bed (our Inn for wayward cyclists), have a quality bike fit provided by professional cyclist and triathlete, Kristy Lanier and ride off into the sunset.
