Jump into the fun at Poor Farm Park
Thursday night it was once again time to get your BMX on! That's right I said it, BMX. Remember when you were a kid and you drove your parent's nuts, because you piled up all the dirt you could find in their yard to build a jump? Well that's what's going on up at Poor Farm BMX Park in Fairmont, WV (poorfarmbmx.com). Except the jumps are much bigger and your parents will not get upset for one of two reasons. Reason one, you're an adult and they don't care what you do now that you are out of the house, or because it's not their yard! So for whatever the reason is, it's time to blow the dust off that single speed or just bring your mountain bike and ride in the cruiser class.

Poor Farm opened their doors to BMX riding back in August of 2002 and has not looked back ever sense. On any given Thursday night you can find riders ranging from National Champions to first time riders taking on the only official NBL (National Bicycling League) track in the entire state of West Virginia. The one thing that I love about the farm is the family like atmosphere. I highly recommend it as a great spot for the whole family. If you have younger kids and are looking for something for them to do this summer this is just what you are looking for. Not only does it give them something healthy and fun to do, but the Farm gives trophies to all participants. WOOT!

Want to race?
The Farm has some great events coming up that you need to check out. First is this weekend when on June 9th they are having an open house and during the Open-House the track will be open to everyone to ride at no cost. Also, that same day the farm is offering a pro-riding clinic by Super Expert rider Javier Larrea. He will be showing pro riding techniques, like starting gate stance, manualing, pumping, jumping, and much more.

The farm is hosting three state qualifier races and all the West Virginia State Championships on August 11th. To qualify for the state championship race you must ride in two of the three state qualifiers held at Poor arm. For more information about these events you can call Poor Farm Track Director Sam Larsok at (304)291-5008. I hope to see you at the Farm and I will be there throughout the summer taking photos for iPlayOutside. RIDE THE FARM!
