- Online registrations must be completed by August 31 at 12 noon EDT. Mailed applications must be received by Friday, August 31. Registrations can be made in person on Friday, August 31, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Charleston Civic Center.
- Participants will receive a special goody bag with goodies inside of it. You will also receive a B-Tech long-sleeve performance T-shirt. Runners and walkers who finish the race will receive a finisher's medal. The crew will have sports drinks and water, and plenty of pizza at Laidley Field. Post-race massages will be available

The jackets are event-specific. There is a 15-mile jacket, a 5K jacket, and a walk jacket. The back of each jacket has the Charleston Distance Run logo, and the right sleeve has 2012 CDR. The left front chest of the 15-mile jacket says 40th, with the CDR logo and America's 15 Miler. The front left chest of the 5K jacket says 20th, with the CDR logo and 5K. The front left chest of the walk jacket has the Charleston Distance Run logo on it, altered to read Charleston Distance Walk.
