Run to Read
This 6th Annual event starts at 2:00 PM.

Enjoy chili and refreshments at Prickett's Fort following the race. Walkers are welcome (4-hour time limit). No separate awards for walkers. Expected field size is 230 racers.

Gloves and Knit Hats for the first 230 registrants. Availability limited on race day, so register early!

    The park is located two miles from I-79 at Exit 139, north of Fairmont, West Virginia. Follow signs to the park. Parking is limited at the visitor's center. There is adequate parking available in the lower parking lot near the boat ramp.

    The double out and back course starts on the paved Mcparc Trail running through the Meredith tunnel, and then back to Prickett's Fort. The first section is blacktop & is about 4.2 miles in length. The second section will be run on the Mon River Trail which is crushed limestone & the race will finish on this trail. USATF sanctioned and certified (certification code WV09010MS).

    Water Stops . Bathrooms

    Five water stops, bathrooms in the building next to the visitor's center. Plus more bathrooms in the lower parking lot. One porta-potty near the 7 mile and 11 mile marks.

    Lodging

    The Fairmont Holiday Inn (located right off I-79, exit 137) is offering a special flat rate effective Friday 1/8/10 or Saturday 1/9/10 or both nights. The rate is $56 + tax. This applies for 1 to 4 occupants per room. Checkout time is noon but a later check out time may be negotiated depending upon how busy they are.     Benefits the Literacy Volunteers of Marion County

    All proceeds will benefit Literacy Volunteers of Marion County, a United Way agency. LVMC provides free tutoring to adults & children in basic reading, math, ESL (english as a second language), GED preparation, computer basics & related subjects. LVMC is accredited by Pro Literacy Worldwide.
