Joel Wolpert runs through Davis
The Tucker Community Endowment Foundation hosted its 2nd annual Tour of Davis Run For IT during the annual Leaf Peepers Festival this past weekend in Davis, WV.

The event is a community fund raiser supporting a variety of causes in the six county region served by the Foundation. This years race had a little bit of bad weather, but that didn't stop more then 150 total participates from taking part in the event.

At the start the skies were looking very threating but so far we were rain free. Seconds later they were off. In front early was this years Highland Sky 40 Miler winner Joel Wolpert.

Wolpert was followed closely behind by last years Run For It winner Luke Fleichman. John Logar, Justin Hovatter and Kevin Andrews were all keeping pace early and it was any race at this point.

One really cool thing that goes on at the "Run For It" is the costume contest! So, as the front runners were headed out of sight, a golfer, clowns, and mountaineer made there way down the course at a much slower pace.

Unfortunately our luck of the rain holding off gave out. It started to pour! I was having a really hard time keeping my camera equipment from getting totally water logged.

The rain sure didn't have much effect on the front runners of the race though.

Ready for the start...
First to come back into site was Joel Wolpert and he was out in front all alone. Wolpert was able to cross the finish line more then 1 minute and 30 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor. Wolpert took the win in a time of 17:07.

Last years winner Luke Fleichman was able to hold onto second win a time of 18:42. John Logar took home third in a 19:37 with Justin Hovatter in fourth crossing the line in 20:30.

On the women's side it was as close as it can get. Lori Andrews took first overall for the women just 3 tenths of a second ahead of BJ Allen. Andrew's winning time was 23:46.7.

Third for the women and only 13 seconds back of the leaders was Tracey Carlton who had a finishing time of 24:00. In fourth for the women was my little buddy Sarah Deacon who finished in 24:05. Thanks to Sarah's mom for helping me with my junk!

At the end of the day the "Run For It" helped raise over $45,000 that help a number of different charities around the area. Next year we well see sunny skies again, I promise!
